Iron Maiden, Harrison 2026: cover artwork

My rating what's this?

An 8 and the pick of the three masters from this night: a bigger reverb than the others, but the bass rumbles better and more of the crowd comes through, so the atmosphere wins.

Step 1 of 4. What you're looking at

This is a bootleg, not the official live album. The actual night itself, recorded from inside the crowd, with the mistakes and the roar left in. This is the concert as it really sounded, before anyone cleaned it up.

// The bootleg

Also an eight. The reverb sits even heavier here than on the other masters of this night, but the bass rumbles more nicely and a little more of the crowd comes through.

That is what tips it: the atmosphere ends up slightly ahead. Honestly, though, the differences between the three tapes are small, and all three sit at an eight.

And why not Recorder 3... ukj69 gives us a strong capture to add to the documentation of night two. We're fortunate that ukj69 was present at hundreds of shows, even before upgrading his gear, leaving us with an extraordinary number of previously unheard recordings.

// The night

This was the second of two nights in Harrison over Labor Day weekend. The band added the Sunday show in November 2025 with the note that no further dates would follow on the North American leg. Doors opened at 5:00 PM, Anthrax went on at 6:10 PM and Megadeth at 7:05 PM; Iron Maiden played from 8:50 PM to 10:50 PM. Crowd estimates differ: Rock and Roll Globe put it at nearly 25,000 on each of the two evenings, NextMosh at 20,000. Reviewing this second night, Rock and Roll Globe described Eddie coming out with his axe in hand during 'Killers' and again for 'The Trooper', the Egyptian Eddie structure towering over a masked Bruce Dickinson in 'Powerslave', and the singer swapping places with a digital avatar in 'Hallowed Be Thy Name'. Paul Debraski, standing in the general admission section, wrote that the first night had sold out quickly and that Dickinson said this one had too, that the Doctor Doctor intro tape ran with the stage still dark and empty, and that Dickinson wore a naval pea coat for 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner'. The night closed on tape with Monty Python's 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life', which none of the three masters of this show carries.

// What the press said

Maiden, meanwhile, celebrated 50 years of their crucial role in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal with an epic set for the ages.

Holy crap, did they really play the 13 minute Rime of the Ancient Mariner?

The rating

The rating is mine, and it is the only quality mark here. The number from 1 to 10 next to a recording is my own listening judgement: how much I enjoy putting it on, everything weighed together.

I do not hand out an "objective" grade, because nobody can grade a live recording objectively. One collector's ears are not another's.

A tape can be clean and still rate lower if it leaves me cold, or rate high in spite of its flaws because it captures the night. Higher means I reach for it more often.

Take it as one ear, then trust your own.
